I am happy to report today that the library is now up and running with the internet. Our telephone is also in working order as well. Printing may still be an issue for a short time, but will hopefully be set up soon as well.

The Grand Finale

Jo Ho Storyteller came to the schoolhouse on 6/28 to conclude this year’s summer reading program. She helped 23 kids catch “reading bugs”, and acted out and involved the kids in stories, including a somewhat altered version of The Tortoise and the Hare. SRP, continued…

24 children met at the schoolhouse today for stories, crafts and refreshments.  They got to read Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cronin, Leo the Lightening Bug by Eric Drachman, and How Many Bugs in a Box? by David A. Carter.  They also painted honeybee and ladybug suncatchers.  Click here for photos!

Cockroaches, Scorpions, & more…

Twenty-five children participated in the first day of the SRP.  They got to learn about BUGS from Kristyn at the Topeka Zoological Park.  The Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and millipede were petted by several of the kids, while the diving beetles and an Emperor Scorpion were off limits.  Kristyn shared many facts about the bugs…did you know [...]

Come catch the reading bug…

…with Corning Library on Saturday, June 7 at the City Park.  We will be handing out SR materials and then you can enjoy a presentation by Topeka Zoological Park! Not sure what they’ll all be telling us, but I’m fairly certain it’ll have something to do with bugs.  Meet me there bright & early at 9:30 am!!
