Twenty-five children participated in the first day of the SRP. They got to learn about BUGS from Kristyn at the Topeka Zoological Park. The Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and millipede were petted by several of the kids, while the diving beetles and an Emperor Scorpion were off limits. Kristyn shared many facts about the bugs…did you know a Millipede grows 40 legs per section of body? When diving beetles come up for air, they make a bubble to allow them to stay under water longer? Scorpions are arachnids, the same family as spiders? These were just a few things we learned. Join us next week for story hour and crafts!
