Corning City Library

a reflection of our community.

Congratulations!

A total of forty-six children attended this year’s summer reading program, Get a srp.jpgClue @ Your Library. The children were split up into three groups. Group A was three and four year olds, Group B 5-7 year olds, and Group C 8 and 9 year olds. Good job to all who completed the program!

The program kicked off on June 7 with entertainer Juggling Jeff who performed “I Spy: Juggling Pharoahs’ Hidden Treasure” which included magic, learning, and of course, juggling!

June 14th and 21st featured crafts and stories, including Foam Animal Puppets, Origami, and Shrinky-Dinks©. The children also wrote “secret” messages in “invisible ink”.

srp2.jpgThe last day of the summer reading program was held Thursday, June 28. Forty-four children attended and they received their reading certificates along with a “Get a Clue” pencil. Nemaha County Sheriff Rich Vernon then educated the children on clues, including a demonstration on dusting for fingerprints. Lastly, they were given refreshments; pop and cookies!

A big Thank-You goes out to the young volunteers who helped with this year’s program. Thanks also to the adults who helped, including Hannah Huerter and Renee Kramer.

Another Thank-You to the ladies of the Corning FCE Unit for providing the cookies!

srp3.jpgCongratulations to the winners of the “Get a Clue” T-Shirts and Library Detective Badges. A t-shirt was awarded to the child in each group who read the most books. The child who read the second most books received a badge. They were (from Left to Right): Group C Runner-Up with 7 books, Winner with 8 books. Group B: Runner-Up with 24 books, Winner with 26 books. Group A: Runner-Up with 24 books, Winner with 26 books.

Congratulations and Keep Reading!!
