Kansas Reads…

…to Preschoolers week starts tomorrow!  November 14 -20.

To recognize this event, the library will be having Story-Time on Saturday, November 20 from 10:00 to 10:30.

It will include a reading of the story, Up, Down, & Around by Katherine Ayres, crafts, and treats!

Targeted to 3-5 year olds, but all are welcome to attend!

A success!

The last day of Summer Reading Program was 6/24. Parasol Puppets performed “The Singing Turtle” as described below:

In this unique interpretation of a Japanese folk tale, a young boy and his family find happiness and good fortune with the help of a talented turtle.

Certificates were handed out. A total of 36 children completed the “Make a Splash, Read!” program for ages 3-9. T-Shirts were awarded to the child in each age group who read the most books. They were:

  • Paxton       Age 3-4            11 Books
  • Ethan          Age 5-7           12 Books
  • Tamra         Age 8-9           55 Books

I had four children turn in reading logs for the Make Waves @ Your Library program, for ages 10+. The top readers in their age groups were:

  • Madison            Age 10-12             1306 Minutes
  • Gregory             Age 13-15             545 Minutes

Congratulations to our readers!

A total of 46 children are invited to attend the Pool Party scheduled for August 5th from 8 to 9 pm at the Seneca Aquatic Center. Remember, you MUST have your ticket to get in!

Thank you to the volunteers, and to the F.C.E. Corning Unit Ladies for baking all the cookies!
